Sectopod is an enemy encountered in XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Sectopod is by far one of the most difficult alien to defeat, and gets harder in the expansion pack Enemy Within. Sectopods are big 2 legged machine that has a "head" that houses some advanced weapons that can annihilate anyone if not handled with caution. Sectopod has 2 main weapon, a Chest Cannon that is extremely dangerous beam that can instantly annihilate a poorly armored XCOM soldier. The 2nd weapon is the Cluster Bomb that bombards enemies with mini-bombs. Although Sectopods are big, they can fit through small passages, making them a force to be reckoned. In Enemy Within, the Sectopod has a reinforced armor that reduces all damage taken by 50%, which makes it even more hard to defeat. However, some plasma weapons and good tactics can take down Sectopod pretty easy.  Other than the weapons, the Sectopod has another weapon after it's destruction, explosion from the wreckage that can harm anyone who is near the Sectopod. A good way to counter the Sectopod is a MEC-3, Paladin. The Paladin MEC can disable the Sectopod with an Electro Pulse that actually can also open up a chance to destroy the Sectopod. However, it is recomended to destroy the Sectopod in ranged instead of using the KSM due to the fact the KSM doesn't knock the Sectopod away.


  • Blasters deals critical damage to Bruisers and gains Focused Attacks if attacking or being attacked by Bruisers.
  • Vulnernable to Tacticians. Tacticians gains Tactical Maneuvers and extra turn if attacking or being attacked by Blasters.

    • Radiation Exposure: Deals damage every turn and takes more damage from energy attacks.

    • Deadly Crits: Deals extra damage on critical hits.

Cluster Bomb

  • 1 hit.
  • Attacks all enemies.
  • Ranged explosion attack.
  • Inflicts:
  • Intimidation: Reduces all stats.
  • Burning: Takes damage every turn and reduces defense.


  • Debuff.
  • Debuffs all enemies.
  • Inflicts:
    • Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 001Overwatched: Attacks are guaranteed to be countered by the one that inflicts this debuff.
  • Grants:
    • (Self) Effect BG 1 GreenEffect Icon 061Overwatch: Counters targets debuffed with Overwatched, but with 30% less accuracy. However, only can counter once before being re-applied on the next turn.
