Melinda May was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent that always excelled in hand-to-hand combat and marksmanship. She was the only agent able to terminate a mind-controlling Inhuman that held several other agents and civilians hostage; however, that Inhuman was only a child, and having to kill her made Melinda quit the field work and take a desk job. Agent Coulson, years later, was the only person who was able to get Melinda back in action, as he was her closest friend. Called "The Cavalry" by most S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, she works with Coulson's team to defeat HYDRA and dangerous Inhumans.
